Update on Bath, England, Silver Disc and Typhoon Jets
A loud bang over five English counties provoked calls to emergency services in Somerset, West Midlands, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and Wiltshire at 18:10 BST (6:10 PM local and 10:10 AM Pacific), on Friday evening, April 12, 2012. After first saying it was investigating what the sound could be, later MoD said the loud bang was a sonic boom from two Typhoon jets launched to investigate an emergency signal from a small helicopter over Bath. For more than an hour, the MoD and other authorities said the cause of the boom was unknown and they were investigating. Speculation about what could have caused the noise ranged from a large explosion to a tremor under the earth. The Bath Chronicle reported, “Many people on Twitter reported doors and windows shaking, while others thought there had been an underground explosion.”
